Ukraine is Not Involved in the “Attack” on the Kremlin – GUR

The incident testifies to an intra-Russian confrontation and may be the result of the activity of local resistance forces or “showdowns” in the top of the Russian Federation.

Ukraine is not involved in the “drone attack” on the Kremlin and would not waste time on such an operation. This was stated by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine , published on May 8.

“There is an official position of Ukraine, officials: no, they are not involved and there is no need for this. Because the measures of the Ukrainian security and defense forces are aimed at de-occupation, liberation of Ukrainian territories and neutralization of enemy military facilities,” he said.

The representative of the GUR believes that it would be strange to spend time and effort on such an operation, which needs serious planning and the use of serious resources.

“It’s impossible to interpret this event as an assassination attempt on Putin, as Russian propaganda presented it very quickly and very quickly,” Yusov stressed.

According to him, the situation testifies to internal Russian confrontation and delegitimization of the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“What was it? It could be different scenarios – from the activity of local resistance forces to showdowns between the “towers” of the Kremlin. Because in any case, if this is interpreted as an internal Russian confrontation (and it is), then this is such an event that works to delegitimize the Putin regime and show that he is not in control of the situation,” the intelligence official said.

He also does not exclude the version of the Institute for the Study of War that the Kremlin staged a provocation in order to create conditions for the next wave of mobilization.

“That’s probable. But when we talk about the Kremlin, we must remember that it has different “towers” and different people live in them, often with different, and sometimes even with opposite interests. Therefore, the inhabitants of certain “towers” could very well” be involved in this,” summed up Yusov.

Recall that on May 3, Moscow announced an “attack by Ukrainian drones” on the Kremlin , regarding it as a “planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of Russian leader” Vladimir Putin on the eve of Victory Day.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assured that Kiev has not made any “attacks” on the Kremlin and uses weapons to protect its territory.
