Agreement in place for Cameia/Golfinho project in Angola’s Kwanza Basin

TotalEnergies, Sonangol and the Angolan National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) have signed a memorandum of understanding concerning development of two fields in the offshore Kwanza Basin.

Cameia and Golfinho are in blocks 20 and 21. The planned development, about 150 km southwest of Luanda, would include an FPSO (TotalEnergies’ seventh off Angola), connected to a network of subsea wells and associated pipelines. Facilities on the platform would include a combined-cycle turbine for power generation and equipment to eliminate flaring.

Pending an agreement with the authorities, the partners would seek to take FID on the project later this year.

“This agreement is expected to launch the first production in the Kwanza sea basin and will contribute significantly to national production targets. Its potential could attract other operators, especially to launch other developments in the Kwanza Basin,” said Paulo Jerónimo, chairman of the board of directors of ANPG.

TotalEnergies EP Angola operates both blocks with an 80% interest, the remainder held by Sonangol Pesquisa & Produção.
