A man was gunned down in a suspected drive-by shooting in Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday afternoon.
ALS Paramedics responded to reports of gunfire on Lenny Naidoo Drive near Havenside Drive at around 15:15.
“On arrival, paramedics found SAPS already in attendance with the crime scene cordoned off. Paramedics assessed a male, [the] driver of a vehicle, [who] had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and had unfortunately passed away as a result of his injuries,” ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said.
“The man believed to be approximately 40 [years-old] was declared deceased on the scene.”
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed to News24 that police are investigating a charge of murder, and that the deceased was an alleged drug dealer
“Information at the police’s disposal at this stage is that the victim was at braai with friends and left them, saying that he needed to see somebody urgently,” Netshiunda said.
“A few minutes later, the man’s vehicle was found across the pavement … riddled with bullet holes.”
Netshiunda said the victim was found in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds
“The motive of the shooting and the suspects are unknown at this stage.”
